Christantus Uche Sparks Comfortable Palace Win at Shelbourne.

Despite entering their maiden European campaign, Crystal Palace are learning very quickly. Missing key figures like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the London club departed Dublin with a comfortable result that all but guarantees them a place in the Europa Conference League playoffs.

A further victory in their next fixture against Finnish KuPS should be sufficient to seal direct passage to the last 16, especially after a previous stumble against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Seize the Opportunity

This occasion offered a platform for some of Palace's lesser-used talent to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning since arriving on loan from Getafe, notched the account with a clinical goal. Striker Eddie Nketiah contributed a another, finding the net for the second game in succession.

The Shelbourne team that had finished their domestic season were no match even for a largely rotated Palace outfit. The Londoners were further depleted by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are out with knee problems.

Dominance Established from the Start

Despite torrential rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly established dominance. A slick passing sequence in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, allowed Nketiah to set up Uche for a straightforward tap-in.

Youngster Adam Wharton came close soon after, fizzing a long-range effort over the bar. Nketiah then appealed for a penalty after bursting into the area, but the official waved away the protests.

The formerArsenal striker didn't need to wait long to get his goal, tapping home from a yard out after Uche's shot had hit the post.

The home side were clinging on desperately. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to escape a booking for a couple of agricultural challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the woodwork with a header from a corner.

Pino Seals the Game

The contest was effectively over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past some weak challenges before coolly dispatching a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

Following the break, coach Oliver Glasner took the chance to withdraw key players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse almost scoring with his first touch, but saw his effort blocked.

Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one attempt crash off each posts before being gathered on the line. Uche then blazed a sitter of a chance, showing there is still room for improvement in his game.

The only concern for Palace was a late knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This paved the way for 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to earn his first-team debut, capping an otherwise positive night for the visiting side.
